How B&FC can partner
Blackpool and The Fylde College can partner with the Trust in a number of ways. There are five basic priorities from government that represent mutual opportunities if we work together. Solutions can all work within funding parameters and the use of the Apprenticeship Levy:
- All B&FC programmes of study (full time 16-18 qualifications) need to feature 20-hours of work placements per student - hours of support that can benefit the Trust e.g. projects and live briefs
- Many degree programmes need to demonstrate far higher vocational practice (work experience) in industry (100+ hours). These energies can also be deployed to benefit the Trust at a higher academic level.
- Traineeships (for those not yet ready for an Apprenticeship) are effectively work experience opportunities with maths and English support. Trainees can support a range of tasks and labour shortages from portering to catering over several months
- Apprenticeships at levels 2 and 3, Higher Apprenticeships and Degree Apprenticeships at levels 4, 5, 6+ are a #1 priority for government. These needn't be new recruits (increasing your wage bill) but upskilling opportunities for existing staff. The Levy can effectively represent a staff development budget
- We can even explore Lancaster University MBA Apprenticeship opportunities at level 7 for senior colleagues.
